A 5.5-magnitude earthquake rattled Bangladesh on Saturday morning, sending tremors through the capital city and other regions.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the quake struck at 9:35 AM local time, with its epicenter located 8 kilometers east-northwest of Ramganj in Lakshmipur district.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) confirmed the earthquake, registering its magnitude at 5.6 on the Richter scale.
Tremors were felt in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Rangpur, Chuadanga, Noakhali, and Kushtia, prompting panicked residents to evacuate buildings and rush onto the streets.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported as of yet. Officials continue to assess the situation and monitor potential aftershocks.
